The Story

This Orange Gesha grows at Chorro Alto. It develops its perfume slowly across the farm’s steep slopes, from 1600 to 1850 masl. Luz Ángela Rojas treats it with the same care she learned in her years working in healthcare, where attention, patience, and process shape every outcome. That mindset carries directly into her thermal shock processing where coffee moves through long, deliberate stages of oxidation and fermentation.

Her method is unusually layered. After dry pulping, the coffee undergoes extended oxidation to fully release the mucilage, followed by a hot wash at 45°C to create the thermal shock. Fermentation stretches to 72 hours, guided by yeast, Gesha pulp, and mosto from previous batches - a way of building depth without losing clarity. A final cold wash seals the profile before slow drying at gentle temperatures.

The result is an Orange Gesha that feels bright and floral without being fragile: blood orange, sweet grapefruit, and orange blossom. Citrus that’s sweet rather than sharp, lifted aromatics that stay present through the finish, and a structure that reflects both the variety and Luz Ángela’s approach.
